Illustration by Suzy Taylor and lasercut by Grand Laser. Laura's name is set in a custom typeface based on her handwritten correspondence, designed by Julia Sysmäläinen. The three types of American wood (ash, maple, and red oak) were picked based on the trees native to each state in which the Ingalls and Wilder families were living in each book.
The design process was featured in Spine Magazine in March 2017.
